In 1727 coffee had arrived
in South America through French and Hollander Guiana.
It was when Francisco de Melo Palheta, sergeant of Portuguese
troops, got this seed that its fruits were going to
bring fortune and wealthy to the cultivators and to
the country.
Then, in a short time coffee had become
the main economic product of Brazil, bringing wealthy
and stimulating the development in all the sectors of
agriculturist and industrial activity, and until today,
as one important product in our list of exportation.
Coffee brought to Brazil a economic,
social and politic change. For climactic reasons the
interference was minimum in North and Northeast, but
in South States, specially Rio de Janeiro, São
Paulo, Minas, Espírito Santo e Paraná,
coffee stimulated a new civilization. In these regions,
the European and Asiatic workers controlled for the
coffee left notable marks, creating a cultural expansion
and opening a wide door to the development.
